Dozens of former students of the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan, where Jeffrey Epstein is said to have encountered some of his earliest victims, told a law firm hired by the school that they had been sexually abused by teachers, staff members, trustees and others affiliated with the institution in episodes ranging from the 1950s to the 2010s. The Department of Justice (DOJ) declined Thursday to release additional unredacted records from its investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, telling a federal judge that it has already adequately complied with the law. The DOJ's response came in the final hours of a court-ordered deadline to remove redactions in at least a dozen documents or "show cause" why it could not. Last year, a middle-aged man was filmed approaching a woman in a shopping centre. It was a sting. Just days after a leak exposed members of Peter Thiel's secretive Dialog society, U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ)-retrieved Jeffrey Epstein files have revealed multiple connections between the disgraced financier and the exclusive network founded by the billionaire investor. Among the documents is a February 2016 email in which Epstein discussed Thiel's interest in what he described as a "secret society idea." "peter thiel LOVED the secret society idea," Epstein wrote in an email to former MIT Media Lab director Joi Ito. "he has done alot of work on the concept. all failed so far." The email surfaced alongside another newly released record that references Dialog, the invitation-only organization Thiel launched in 2006 with entrepreneur Auren Hoffman. In a November 2012 email, renowned Harvard physicist Lisa Randall forwarded Epstein an invitation to attend Dialog 2014, an exclusive retreat held at Utah's Sundance Resort. Another email suggests the financier was receiving materials connected to the organization's retreats. In a September 2013 message, Boris Nikolic – the prominent biotechnology executive who later became one of Epstein's most well-known scientific associates – forwarded Epstein an email discussing a Dialog breakout session focused on bitcoin and foreign policy. Wood, 46, spent 17 years incarcerated in H Unit – the underground cells at the state prison in the rural town of McAlester, Oklahoma, where no natural light ever reaches. According to prisoner letters seen by the Guardian and published here for the first time, H Unit – also known by the prisoners as the "tombs" – features a series of windowless cells that are built banked into the earth. Allegations of rape and sexual misconduct against federal corrections officers by inmates have spiked in recent years, the Government Accountability Office found in its review of enforcement of the 2003 Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA). From 2014 through 2022, federal inmates logged nearly 4,000 complaints of sexual abuse against prison staff. Just 9% of those were substantiated by BOP, though 77% saw investigations end inconclusively. A similar trend emerged from sexual abuse allegedly committed by incarcerated individuals, with 81% of those cases reaching inconclusive findings. "Multiple young men" were allegedly drugged and raped at Jeffrey Epstein's Zorro Ranch, according to an explosive new report that detailed harrowing accusations from murder to babies snatched from mothers at the pedophile's New Mexico house of horrors. "A man actually claims that he met Jeffrey Epstein [and] was brought to the ranch, he was drugged," US Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-NM) told "60 Minutes Australia" in a Sunday segment, the Sun reported. "He describes in detail a scene in which multiple young men were raped at the ranch in front of him after he was drugged," said Stansbury, a leading advocate for Epstein victims. It's unclear how Stansbury learned the excrutiating details of the alleged abuse, but her claims come as her state is in the thick of an extensive investigation into Zorro Ranch – the first probe of its kind since the millionaire financier killed himself in 2019 in a Manhattan jail cell after being arrested on sex-trafficking charges. The probe was sparked in part by anonymous 2019 allegations that Epstein and Maxwell choked women to death during "rough fetish sex" and buried them on the ranch – accusations that resurfaced with the release earlier this year of the tranche of files from the FBI's investigation into the disgraced financier. Emails released in the United States Department of Justice files show that the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein was offered the chance to buy into a sprawling building tied to the Department of Defense in 2016. The 84,710-square-metre (101,312-suqare-yard) complex, located roughly 1.6km (1 mile) from the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, was described in an investor deck as a "mission-critical" site and "the only property in Arlington, Virginia other than the Pentagon itself with the ability to meet the space and infrastructure needs of the DOD". The proposed purchase price was about $116m. The structure of the deal would have made Epstein a co-owner and, effectively, a landlord to the US government. The Pentagon-linked proposal formed part of three documents – an email, an investor presentation and a deal summary – contained within the newly released files. David Stern, a businessman who referred to himself as Epstein's "soldier", forwarded the offer. Stern also served as a close aide to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was arrested on Thursday on "suspicion of misconduct in public office" following revelations in the Epstein files. Stern also sent Epstein a separate proposal in 2015 to invest in two FBI field offices in Richmond and Baltimore. That deal required an initial $25m, followed by a further $80m, with ownership routed through a Cayman Islands offshore entity. There is an epidemic of child sex crimes in and around Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Since 2021, and the American withdrawal from Afghanistan, dozens of elite soldiers stationed at the military base have been convicted of raping children, distributing child pornography, and other similar offenses. It is all very doable. And it is all very lucrative." "Military leadership at the highest ranks are aware of what is happening, and they choose to cover it up. The whole time that the U.S. was in Afghanistan, they were working with, protecting, funding, and arming guys who were systematically raping little boys, keeping them in chains on U.S. military bases – chained children on U.S. bases who were raped on a nightly basis!" At Forward Operating Base Shank in Logar Province in 2014, [former Fort Bragg paratrooper Jordan] Terrell recalls seeing a group of young bachas running around the base. One, he noticed, "had something hanging out of his butt." At first confused by the site, he later realized that what he saw was the child's prolapsed anus from being repeatedly sodomized.

Epstein regularly directed his gripes at Al Seckel, a fixer type who appears over and over in Epstein files and promises to bury news articles and other content that mentions his abuse. SEO consultants, contacts in the sciences, and even unrelated acquaintances helped to obscure Epstein's past. In October 2010, Seckel laid out an overview of the group's plan of attack to defend Epstein's reputation online. The situation, as Seckel described it, was that a search surfaced "over 75+ pages of derogatory material," and that someone would be "very hard pressed to find any ‘positive' references." To "balance the only one-sided negative opinion that has been spread over a wide birth on the Internet," Seckel said, the team would need to flood the zone with content they can control, specifically pointing to spinning up websites with original content related to Epstein's connections to science and charities. A "Phillipine Crew" ... would spread flattering links around the web, and other tasks. Part of how Google decides which pages to rank highly in search results is by looking at whether other sites link to a page; Epstein's camp appears to have been trying to push down negative search results by securing valuable links from outside entities.

In October 2011, years after Epstein pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct with a minor, an adviser to Bill Gates named Boris Nikolic emailed Epstein about wanting to introduce him to a "cool guy." The message included a link to the Wikipedia page for 4chan founder Christopher Poole (who also goes by "moot"). Poole oversaw the platform until 2015. Four days later, Epstein responded to Nikolic about his meeting with Poole to say, "i liked mmot slot. i drove him home, he is very bright." The timing of the introduction is interesting. The same month that Nikolic introduced Epstein to Poole, 4chan launched a politically oriented forum called /pol/, which became popular with right-wing extremists. The site eventually became a cesspool of far-right extremism, violent rhetoric and propaganda, and incubated the pro-Trump conspiracy theory known as QAnon. Four days after Epstein met with Poole, Nikolic emailed Epstein again with a comment on 4chan's potential. "This article describes why I find moot interesting. The potential for manipulation is huge," Nikolic wrote, linking to a Washington Post article that discussed how 4chan had been used to foment bigotry, launch cyberattacks and fuel a "hive mind" mentality. Poole's name appears in Epstein emails later as well, including the next month, when Poole coordinates with one of Epstein's subordinates about meeting up in New York. "Chris, Jeffrey has also said to feel free to bring anyone you think is clever!" the email reads.

The claims have surfaced following the release of the latest instalment of the Epstein files, which appears to include an email sent to the paedophile by the former Duchess of York. In this email, dated September 21, 2011, Sarah Ferguson appears to congratulate Epstein on the birth of a "baby boy" and offer her "love, friendship and congratulations" after hearing about the news from "The Duke", possibly referring to her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. In addition, a 2002 diary entry authored by an Epstein victim alleges that she gave birth to a baby girl at the age of 16 or 17. A child born in 2002 would be 23-24-years-old now. The diary entry includes a copy of a pregnancy scan dated 20 weeks gestation. The child appears to have been taken from her mother 10 minutes after birth, which the woman alleges was done under the supervision of Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's former girlfriend. "She was born, I heard her cries!" the victim wrote. "I saw this tiny head and body in between the doctor's hands. Ghislaine said she was beautiful. Where is she?" In a heartbreaking statement, she says: "I miss the person I was before I was made into what feels like a human incubator." The diary was shared by the woman's lawyers, Wigdor LLP, with federal prosecutors investigating Epstein and Maxwell.

The name of Former US President George Bush has allegedly appeared in the latest tranche of Epstein Files released by the US authorities. The files linked to Jeffrey Epstein include a reference to "George Bush 1" in a complaint filed with the New York Police Department. The mention has reignited online attention and prompted fresh scrutiny of what the files actually show – and what they do not. The latest tranche contains police reports, witness statements and investigative notes in which a purported victim's account names several highprofile figures. In one document, an email or interview summary records the victim saying he "was also raped by George Bush 1," and the name appears as a referenced party rather than in Epstein's own logs. The files also include other sensational claims attributed to the same source. On social media platform X, a user shared the screenshots from the document showing an email correspondence which contains the purported Epstein victim's account notes "Thanks M, I didn't realize Bush raped him too. Ok." It also mentions some more details like - While on this yacht he witnessed African American males having sex with white blonde females, all of whom were bleeding during intercourse. "He was a victim of a type of ritualistic sacrifice in which his feet were cut with a scimitar but left no scarring. On the yacht he witnessed babies being dismembered, their intestines removed, and individuals eating the feces from these intestines," it adds.

More than a decade ago, I walked into the Challenger Memorial Youth Center in Los Angeles County to gather data for a lawsuit related to their "failure to provide an adequate education to detained youth." What our team found was much more horrifying: masses of teachers not showing up or late to work, leaving youth in their cells; children in solitary confinement for weeks; sexual assault by probation officers and detention staff; teacher-run fight clubs during class; and more. These abuses continue even today, as exposed earlier this year by sex tapes recorded in a juvenile detention facility in Seattle and videos of gladiator fights between teens in custody in Los Angeles County. The juvenile justice system was originally designed to be supportive and child-centered, but it became increasingly punitive and harsh through the War on Drugs in the 1980s, which resulted in exponentially higher rates of arrests and imprisonment. As a result, children with externalizing symptoms of trauma – abuse, neglect, domestic violence – have been incarcerated without treatment for their behavioral and mental health symptoms. Youth incarceration is extremely harmful to communities, causing worse adult health and functional limits. If we want a healthy society, we need to address trauma through treatment, not incarceration. Punishment provides immediate, visible results, while empowering youth requires patience, understanding and time.

On November 18, Donald Trump suffered a major political defeat when the House of Representatives passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act by a nearly unanimous vote: 427–1. But the final version specified that the Department of Justice must make public "all unclassified" documents on Epstein. The word unclassified potentially gives Trump and the CIA wide latitude to hold back Epstein-related materials that they claim are too sensitive to release. People have linked Epstein to the spy world for years. In 2019, Vicky Ward, writing in The Daily Beast, reported that Trump's then–labor secretary, Alex Acosta–who, as a federal prosecutor, had cut a notorious sweetheart plea deal with Epstein before his trial in 2008–had made some startling comments about Epstein when he was being vetted for his role in the first Trump administration. As Ward noted, Acosta claimed that he had "cut the non-prosecution deal with one of Epstein's attorneys because he had ‘been told' to back off, that Epstein was above his pay grade. ‘I was told Epstein "belonged to intelligence" and to leave it alone,' he told his interviewers in the Trump transition [team]." Just as much of the policing of the American empire is now done by private military companies (notably Constellis, formerly known as Academi and Blackwater), billionaires like Epstein have their own private foreign policy. Whatever work Epstein did with the CIA or the Mossad would have been as a peer rather than an employee.

New York State's Bedford Hills Correctional facility, Illinois' Pontiac Correctional Center and Albion Correctional Facility in New York State are the three U.S. prisons with the highest reported rates of sexual victimization. These are the findings of a new Department of Justice (DOJ) report about sexual victimization in state and federal prisons, as reported by inmates. The Justice Department carried out a National Inmate Survey in 177 federal prisons. The annual survey is required by the 2003 Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA). The survey of 27,541 state and federal inmates found that some 4.1 percent of adult prison inmates reported being sexually victimized in state and federal prisons during the prior 12 months. Furthermore, 2.3 percent of inmates reported sexual victimization by another inmate while 2.2 percent reported sexual victimization by facility staff. Meanwhile, 17 prisons had rates defined as high compared to other facilities. The data pertains to prisons that participated in the survey so the data may not accurately capture those with the highest sexual victimization in America. The prison with the highest proportion of prison inmates reporting sexual victimization was Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, a female prison in New York where 18.6 percent of inmates reported sexual victimization. Pontiac Correctional Center, a men's prison in Illinois was second, with 15.9 percent of inmates reporting sexual victimization.
